Kommersant FM - A1, a company owned by Mikhil Fridman, is to have a dispute with Elena Baturina. The company intends to collect a debt of her insolvent brother in the amount of 3.25 billion rubles from the richest woman in Russia. For that sake, A1 will have to bring the attention of the court to a deal cut in 2001, when Baturins divided their assets in Inteco, and to prove that Yury Luzhkov’s widow has never owned her brother’s share. What are the prospects of the hearings? And how did Fridman’s company interfere in the family business? Dmitry Lobachev, Project Manager of Khrenov&Partners, presents his view of the case.

The business community requests payment of debts by installments without court hearings. Relevant proposals have been submitted to the Ministry of Economic Development by Business Russia public organization. It is proposed that the debtors will settle their debts with creditors independently, assisted by bailiffs. Under this scheme, the companies will avoid any seizure of their bank accounts and their property will not be auctioned. Will the business people benefit from this situation?
